As the temperatures begin to rise over the spring and summer, it’ll soon be hot enough to consider turning on your air conditioner. Because it has been some time since you turned on your air conditioner, it will require some attention to make sure that your unit is in tip-top shape.
Before you turn on your air conditioner for the first time this season, check the following:
1. Thermostat
Is there any damage to your thermostat? If so, you might want to consider an energy-efficient programmable thermostat to maintain your home at a comfortable temperature while saving money on utilities.
Check thermostat positioning with an expert HVAC technician too. Your thermostat should be placed 150 centimeters above the ground, away from heat sources such as a sunny window, a stove, etc.
2. Condenser

5. Refrigerant Level

6. Air Filter

At a minimum, change the filter once every three months; clean it if you use the permanent type.
7. Blower
The blades of the blower fan should be swept and then wiped clean. After that, tighten the mounting nuts and grease the motor if necessary.
