Know Your Warranty

Know Your Warranty

Unfortunately, there are heating and air conditioning companies out there that will take advantage of you by charging you for parts that are covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.

Many homeowners do not know their warranty when it comes to their heating, cooling and ventilation system. We have created this web page so that you can KNOW YOUR WARRANTY!

When contacting the Manufacturer or Installing Contractor, you will need the:

  • Brand and/or Manufacturer of the Furnace/Air Conditioner

WARRANTY MAY BE VOIDED IF:

  1. ANNUAL MAINTENANCE IS NOT COMPLETED*
  2. ANY ALTERATIONS, DELETIONS, ADDITIONS, OR MISUSE OF THE EQUIPMENT**

*Technical Standards and Safety Authority Act 2000 for Gaseous Fuels states in section 15 under, ‘Duty to maintain in safe operating condition’ that “An owner or user of an appliance, equipment, a work or any other thing employed in the handling or use of gas shall ensure that the appliance, equipment, work or thing employed in the handling or use of gas is maintained in safe operating condition. Ontario Regulation 212/01, s. 15. Additionally, the manufacturer states that Warranty may be void if the equipment is not maintained annually by a licensed HVAC contractor.
**Additions or Accessory Items, such as adding a humidifier or air conditioner to your furnace, can leak and damage the furnace, thereby voiding the warranty. It is recommended to have the original furnace installing contractor make additions to your equipment. This way you will have warranty coverage on the furnace should a leak with a humidifier or air conditioner occur.
