Protect Your Home By Replacing Smoke Alarm Batteries

On every service, repair or installation call, Martino HVAC works hard to keep you and your family safe and comfortable. On March 11, when Daylight Saving Time begins, spend a few minutes and replace all smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries. With the “Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery” campaign, you can help ensure smoke alarms and CO detectors are doing their part to keep your family safe.

According to the Office of the Fire Marshal, 1 in 3 fire fatalities happen in homes with no working smoke alarms. In many instances, smoke alarms were installed but the batteries died or were missing altogether. The Fire Marshal estimates that homes today burn up to 8 times faster than they did 50 years ago, and you may have less than 60 seconds to escape your home during a fire. Smoke alarms are vital to a family’s safety and can increase your chances of surviving a fire by up to 50%.

On Sunday, March 11, take the morning to ensure your home is protected with working smoke alarms:

Participating in the “Change Your Clocks, Change Your Battery” campaign to replace smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries twice a year when changing the time can go a long way in keeping your family safe in the event of a fire.
